Next Step Living: an Inc. 500 Company

Named to the Inc. 500 List of fast-growing companies, the 2014 Global Cleantech 100  and a New England Clean Energy Council Employer of the Year, Next Step Living® is a great place to not just work but a company where you can build a green-collar career.

A green-collar career means that we offer paths to growth, development and added responsibilities. Not just jobs. (For an example, read below about Dave Boettcher, companion of our chief morale officer.)

Our Culture Reflects Good Energy.

Between our two offices, one in Boston’s Innovation District and the other in New Haven, Conn., we have more than 800 employees. Most work full time, but many have part-time positions. Some work in field positions as energy advisors and skilled technicians, while others work in our call center in sales and support positions. All enjoy training opportunities and monthly socials, as we work to strike that important balance between doing great work for our customers and enjoying what we do as the leading whole-home energy solutions company.

We also offer a great environment, with members of the leadership team readily available for a quick chat in our café and with individual and team excellence recognized in a company-wide awards program.

And, of course, Next Step Living offers a competitive benefits package that includes:

  • Medical and dental insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • FSA for medical care and transportation, dependent care
  • Life insurance
  • Disability insurance
  • Flexible paid-time off

Take the next step. Build your green-collar career at Next Step Living.

Chief Morale Officer at Next Step Living - Katahdin

When not snoozing in one of her strategically placed beds in the office, seven-year old Katahdin makes her rounds among Next Step Living employees. (Of course, those with treats get more frequent and longer visits, usually punctuated by Katahdin insistently pointing her nose to the spot where she knows the goods are stashed.) This black lab is our chief morale officer. The companion of longtime employee Dave Boettcher, Katahdin is at work just about every day, commuting with Dave between our Boston and New Haven offices.

Dave started with Next Step Living in 2008 as one of our first Next Step Living energy advisors. Through the years, Dave’s green-collar career with the company has included managing our operations, leading the creation of our insulation department and growing our energy advisor team by dozens and dozens. While today Dave is the general manager of our Connecticut office and responsible for our advisor team, Katahdin continues to attend to anyone up for a game of catch or in need of a quick nuzzle.
